Excellence in cinema can mean many things: perfection in craft, purity of emotion, freedom from commercialism... We all recognize the antithesis - the modern corporate film, ground down to some non-existent lowest common denominator in meeting after meeting. In the end, excellence is defined only by the viewer. And we know that when a film is excellent, it will find a market too.
Just as digital audio revolutionized music production a decade and two ago, digital video is democratizing filmmaking. At Casual Dog Productions, we mean to leverage this new technology into streamlined, economical productions. This doesn't mean the abandonment of technique - in fact, cheaper production methods demand more skill to achieve quality. But at the same time, it is becoming possible to escape some of the constraints and hindrances that come with the territory when you need to raise hundreds of thousands (for documentary work) or millions of dollars.
